Snowbird, UT - With winter taking slightly longer than expected to deliver its powder The North Face will postpone the first stop of its Masters of Snowboarding series, originally scheduled for Utah's Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort January 19-21, in order to provide more time for optimal competition riding conditions to develop. Officials in Ogden have also canceled that city's Winterfest 2012.

Burr Ridge, IL - Officials with the Gatorade Free Flow Tour have announced the complete schedule for series for the 2012 winter season. In its third year, the Tour offers up-and-coming amateur freeski athletes 21 and under the chance to earn a pre-qualified spot in next season’s 2012-13 Winter Dew Tour. Leading off with slope and pipe contests at Vail Mountain in Vail, Colo., the circuit will hit eight ski resorts for a total of 14 contests, including two in Utah.

Modeled after the International Snow Science Workshop, USAW provides a venue for experienced skiers, sledders and avalanche professionals to get together, along with those new to the game, to take a closer look at the underbelly of the avalanche dragon.

Park City, UT - The U.S. Women’s Ski Jumping Team will receive the Wilma Rudolph Courage Award from the Women's Sports Foundation, for their accomplishments and being allowed to compete in the Olympic Winter Games. After years of the team’s perseverance, in April the International Olympic Committee added a women's ski jumping event (normal hill) to the Olympic Winter Games program beginning in Sochi, Russia in 2014.
