Salt Lake City, UT - Skiing and snowboarding are great ways to get off the couch this winter and achieve those New Year's fitness resolutions. Fortunately, Utah is home to 13 ski resorts from the northern part of the state to the south, all waiting for riders young and old to come out and get lucky. Whether learning for the first time or simply brushing up unpracticed skills, Utah ski resorts are participating in a "Lucky 13" promotion in conjunction with SnowSports Industries America's "Learn-a-Snowsport" month, for 13 days from January 19 through 31 for people looking to ski or snowboard.

Eden, UT - Powder Mountain will be hosting its first ski and snowboard competition for youth aged 10 and younger this Saturday, January 12. Young up-and-coming skiers and riders, nicknamed Groms, can really show off their skills on courses specially set up for their age group.

Park City, UT - A U.S. District Court has denied a motion filed by Deer Valley Resort Co. for a preliminary injunction to prohibit Christy Sports LLC from continuing to rent skis at its ski shop within Utah's Deer Valley ski resort until the lawsuit filed by Deer Valley is heard by the Court.

Park City, UT - As always, one of the highlights of Deer Valley’s holiday season is the ski resort's annual torchlight parade. This year the parade takes place this Sunday, December 30 at dusk (approximately 6 p.m.) when the resort’s Ski School will dazzle with torches, synchronized skiing, and all sorts of “illuminating” moves.

Park City, UT - Lookout Cabin Restaurant, the award winning on-mountain dining spot at the top of the Golden Eagle and Short Cut lifts at The Canyons Resort, will be bringing in live Maine lobsters for a holiday lunch special. Park City, UT - An unidentified 11 year-old boy remains in critical condition this morning in a Salt Lake City hospital following an in-bounds avalanche at The Canyons ski resort near Park City on Sunday that killed another skier and buried the boy's father.
