Sandy, UT - Halfpipe snowboarder Louie Vito's 2009-10 season kicked off with a different kind of competition on ABC's hit TV show Dancing with the Stars. But when it was time to qualify for the Olympics, the Sandy, Utah resident was a staple at each snowboarding event throwing down double corks on the road to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Vito hasn't slowed down this summer, stomping the grounds of Europe, Los Angeles, Mt. Hood and Utah.

Park City, UT - Earlier this month, the U.S. Men's Alpine Ski Team was sliding around on the ice rink at their summer hockey camp at the Park City Ice Arena. Nearly the entire men's team flocked to Park City for the training session, including 2006 Olympic gold medalist Ted Ligety and 2010 Olympic bronze medalist Andrew Weibrecht.

Salt Lake City, UT - Summer is here, marking the "off season" for winter sports like skiing and snowboarding and the beginning of summer school sessions. Through the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) educational program's partnership with Salt Lake City's Westminster College, many U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and U.S. Ski Jumping athletes are hitting the books.

Park City, UT - Four-time Paralympian and three-time Paralympian medalist Monte Meier of Park City,has announced his retirement with the U.S. Adaptive Alpine Team following the 2009-10 winter season. Meier was an integral part of the ski team for 16 years.

Salt Lake City, UT - The leadership of Salt Lake City's Westminster College had a chance recently to show its pride, hosting over a dozen U.S. Ski Team, U.S. Snowboarding and other elite athletes for an end-of-the-school year luncheon. The athletes are part of a unique partnership with the U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding which allows them to attend college while continuing to train for the Olympic Winter Games.

Park City, UT - Former U.S. Ski Team athlete and coach Todd Schirman, a Park City resident, has been named freestyle program director for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA), according to USSA Vice President, Athletics Luke Bodensteiner. After coaching the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team's moguls squad for the last four years, Schirman will expand his field, working directly with moguls and aerials.
