Provo Canyon, UT - Jerry Warren, Director of Sundance Resort's Mountain Operations, was inducted into the National Ski Instructors Hall of Fame in Sun Valley, Idaho, on April 10th. Inductees to the Hall of Fame are honored for their significant contribution and instrumental role in the development of professional ski instruction. Members of the Hall of fame include Alf Engen, Junior Bounous, Keith Lange, and Pepi Stiegler, among others.

Snowbird, UT - Utah's Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort surpassed a season-to-date snowfall total of 500 inches for the third straight year this season, thanks to a storm that blanketed the Wasatch Mountains on Friday. The Little Cottonwood Canyon resort received six inches Thursday and Friday, with another storm in the forecast for the middle of next week.

Denver, CO - In some of the most solid results seen in the mountain travel industry over the past 12 months, lodging occupancy was up 9.6 percent in March compared to March 2009 at ski resorts across the western U.S. and Canada, including Utah. This was the third consecutive month with year-over-year increases in actual occupancy and the fourth month since April 2009 according to the latest data released by the Mountain Travel Research Program (MTRiP).

Snowbird, UT - After Little Cottonwood Canyon neighbor Alta Ski Area reopens this weekend for one final three-day spring fling, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort will be the only Utah mountain still open for skiing and riding. Although some operations, including night skiing on Chickadee and the Mid-Gad Restaurant are already done for the season, Snowbird has detailed plans to continue spring ops this year through Memorial Day at the end of May.

Salt Lake City, UT - The final opportunity for the public to help shape Salt Lake County's master plan for the canyons surrounding Salt Lake City is rapidly approaching. The Wasatch Canyons Tomorrow process is evaluating a wide range of policies dealing with watershed, recreation, transportation and development in these canyons, which include Big and Little Cottonwood Canyons, home to Utah's Alta Ski Area, Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort, Brighton Ski Resort and Solitude Mountain Resort. Feedback received throughout this process, open through April 30, will be integral to the future development and preservation of the canyon areas along Utah's Wasatch Front.

Park City, UT - Despite the fury of spring snow storms, including 22 inches of snow on jump day last Thursday, The Canyons' terrain park crew shoveled, cut and shaped more than 45 thousand yards of snow to create the largest snow terrain park feature ever built in Utah. Why you ask? So Utah's Grete Eliassen could click into her skis, reach speeds of 60 miles an hour downhill, hit the custom 30 foot "hip" feature and soar more than 31 feet in the air. No woman has ever come close to reaching this height on skis.
