Park City, UT - Rossignol announced today that ski industry veteran Tim Petrick has been named the company's Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing, effective July 1. Petrick, most recently Vice President of Global Sales for K2 Sports, will be responsible for overseeing the worldwide strategic direction of the company's Dynastar, Lange, Look and Rossignol ski and snowboard brands. While Rossignol North America's headquarters is located in Park City, Petrick will work from Rossignol's global headquarters in France.

Salt Lake City, UT - Ski Utah reported today that skier visits at its 13 member resorts were down 6.5% year over year in 2008-09. A record season in 2007-08, however, meant that 2008-09 was nonetheless the state's fourth best ski and snowboard season on record.

Park City, UT - Summer seasons begin this Friday at both Deer Valley and The Canyons Resort. Deer Valley's Silver Lake Express and Sterling Express ski lifts will begin ferrying mountain bikers, hikers and sightseers to the summit of 9,400-foot Bald Mountain high above Park City, while summer activities and events at The Canyons include free concerts in the Utah ski resort's base village, mountain biking, hiking, disc golf and summer camps for kids. Summer activities are already underway at Park City Mountain, the third Park City-area ski resort.

Park City, UT - Longtime ski coach Erich Sailer, who has coached over 20,000 athletes including Lindsey Vonn (Vail, CO) at Buck Hill Ski Racing Club in Minnesota, will have his name memorialized in the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association's (USSA) new national training and education center, the Center of Excellence. The new Erich Sailer Cardio Center was recently unveiled in Park City, a gift from his longtime friends Bill and Joanne Shiebler who were among the facility's leading donors. Bill is a trustee of the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team Foundation.

Park City, UT - After jumping for most of her life and competing for the U.S. Ski Team for two years, Park City's Brenna Ellis, a student at Westminster College in Salt Lake City, is retiring from her competitive career. Ellis was a pioneer in the field of women's ski jumping.

Snowbird, UT - Summer fun officially begins at Utah's Snowbird Ski and Summer Resort this Saturday, with the 11 a.m. opening of summer activities for all ages. New for 2009 is the Wasatch Mining Company Gemstone Mine, where participants can strike it rich by panning for real gemstones in Snowbird's own mining sluice.
