Park City, UT - Skiers in Park City for the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday weekend will be treated to the inaugural Orion Independent Music Festival, taking place the week leading up the famed Sundance Film Festival. The Festival will provide exposure to unsigned music acts in a similar way Sundance does for filmmakers. Artists will perform in several venues throughout the town's historic Main Street. Music genres will include rock, pop, jazz, R&B, lounge, country, and hip hop.

Calgary, Canada - U.S. Ski Team racer TJ Lanning of Park City, Utah, who was injured Saturday during a crash in the opening downhill of the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup season, is recovering in a Calgary hospital. According to U.S. Ski Team Medical Director Richard Quincy, Lanning suffered a dislocated left knee and non-displaced fracture of a vertebrae in his neck.

Park City, UT - This year Stein Eriksen Lodge at Deer Valley Resort is celebrating the holiday season with the creation and display of a nine-foot long, four-foot wide and five-foot tall gingerbread Thomas the Train. The edible confection is the eighth such masterpiece of executive pastry chef Raymond Lammers, who oversees the design and construction of a different gingerbread structure for the Lodge each year.

Huntsville, UT - Snowbasin has announced that they will open as planned this Thursday. Needles Express Gondola and Littlecat Express Quad will be in operation beginning at 9 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day. Mountain Manager, Chris Westover, reports a base of 19 inches of man-made and natural snow on top to bottom runs.
