Salt Lake City, UT - Deer Valley Resort Director of Food and Beverage Julie Wilson was honored at the 11th annual Salt Lake Magazine Dining Awards with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Wilson received the award at a banquet celebrating all Dining Award recipients, held February 19th at Salt Lake City’s Grand America Hotel, with over 200 food lovers, restaurateurs and guests in attendance.

Salt Lake City, UT - Salt Lake City's Westminster College has announced the addition of men's and women's Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding to its athletic program, competing in the United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association (USCSA) beginning Fall 2008. This addition will give Westminster a total of 12 teams competing in intercollegiate athletics. Griffins Athletic Director Shay Wyatt announced the hiring of Chris Hendrickson to serve as head coach and architect of the startup program.

Park City, UT - Park City Academy is hosting the second annual All Mountain Treasure HUNT at Park City Mountain Resort on Friday, March 14th and Saturday, March 15th. The HUNT is open to all intermediate and advanced skiers or snowboarders who are game for a fun afternoon at the ski area. Sponsors include Park City Mountain Resort, JANS, White Pine Touring and Ski Utah, among others.

Park City, UT - The Waldorf=Astoria Collection and DuVal Development on Wednesday announced the signing of the Dakota Mountain Lodge, a Waldorf=Astoria Collection hotel and the luxury brand’s and Hilton’s first ski management property. Located at The Canyons Resort near Park City, the Dakota Mountain Lodge will offer guests an assortment of unique experiences and discoveries for luxury ski travel enthusiasts. Completion and opening is scheduled for spring 2009.

Eden, UT - Powder Mountain and Utah Winter Games are sponsoring a slopestyle competition Saturda to support Ogden Valley’s 745 Freestyle Team. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the lower section of the Hidden Lake Terrain Park at Powder Mountain Resort. Both rails and jumps will be included in the judging. Park City, UT - The NDS Invitational, four alpine races in three days with the goals of preparing skiers heading to the Junior World Championships and giving junior racers a chance to ski against the U.S. Ski Team, concluded Friday with two slaloms. Coaches and athletes gave the series high marks and thumbs up, not just for the racing but "the total experience."

Alta, UT - Exum Utah Mountain Adventures and the Alta Lodge are offering a three-night and two-day Backcountry Skiing Clinic April 2-6. Participants will learn about avalanche awareness, beacon rescue, safe route selection, efficient skinning, and downhill technique on skis while experiencing legendary Wasatch Mountains backcountry touring. This, though, is no hut trip; clinic participants will enjoy the warmth, convenience, and fine dining at the Alta Lodge after a day in the backcountry.
