Park City, UT - A group of 19 U.S. Ski Team and U.S. Snowboarding athletes recently wrapped up a trip to Park City for the second annual U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) Rookie Camp. The rookies were treated to three days of team building and training to help them make an easy transition into the USSA family of national team athletes.

Alta, UT - Utah's venerable Alta Ski Area will celebrate 70 years of skiing this upcoming season. On October 19, 1938, the Forest Service issued the initial permit to construct a ski lift at Alta to the Salt Lake Winter Sports Association. Alta officially opened as a ski area that December.

Park City, UT - Deer Valley Resort President and General Manager Bob Wheaton announced this week that the Utah ski resort will double its seasonal work force housing capacity for the 2008-09 ski season.

Snowbird, UT - Skiers and snowboarders will be able to celebrate the first day of summer on the snow as Utah's Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort will reopen for one final weekend of skiing this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 20-22. Sunday will now signal the close of resort skiing in Utah with the last day of skiing and riding at Snowbird, Utah’s only resort still open for skiing and riding.

Park City, UT - The U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association (USSA) celebrated a milestone in the construction of its Center of Excellence in Park City on Monday. Around 50 USSA staff members joined the Jacobsen Construction crew to celebrate the final steel beam being placed on the building in a "topping off" ceremony.

Salt Lake City, UT - Along with impressive snow totals, the 2007-08 winter season brought Utah’s ski and snowboard industry its fifth consecutive record-breaking year. The state totaled 4,258,900 skier days during the 2007-08 season.

Park City, UT - Board sports company Quiksilver, Inc. will sell its Park City-based Rossignol brand of ski hardgoods and softgoods, the company announced in its second quarter financial statement last week. The sale will include the Rossignol, Dynastar, Lange, Look and Kerma brands of ski equipment and apparel, all of which are operated under the Quiksilver's Rossignol Group business unit.

Park City, UT - Young budding gymnasts aren't the only ones perfecting their flips and balance at the Black Diamond gymnastics center in Park City this summer. The U.S. Freestyle Ski Team's moguls athletes are also setting up shop at the gym to hone in the perfect air package and dial in their balance and coordination skills.

Lakewood, CO - The National Ski Areas Association (NSAA) recently announced the winners of the ninth annual National Kid’s Safety Poster Contest, Lynzi Deeter, 11, representing Snowbasin, Utah, and Larkin Armbruster, 9, representing Vail Mountain, Colo. For their efforts, Lynzi and Larkin each received a Pro-Tec helmet.
