Briarcliff Manor, NY - On Sunday, July 19, the day prior to the start of the Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, Utah, thieves stole a rental trailer hitched to a truck containing the complete Masterfit Enterprises trade show booth, custom footbed product samples and collateral material. Company CEO Steve Cohen is asking for the ski industry's help.

Needless to say, it was quite a scramble for Cohen to get replacement product and cobble together a booth, both for the Outdoor Retailer show and the World Shoe Show which immediately followed, but they did so admirably.

The empty trailer was recovered by the Salt Lake Police Department nine hours after the theft. With the exception of a large flat screen monitor, most of the stolen goods are not easily sold to the general public, especially the 125 pair of Zapz Microwable Custom Insoles and the Instaprint BioGel Molding System, insole blanks and posting shells.

According to Cohen, the police suspect that the thieves will either dump all the goods or try to sell them to a retail outlet.

"We are asking you to help us spread the word regarding the missing items to the retail community with the request that they be vigilant in case they are approached by thieves trying to resell the merchandise," Cohen says. "If a retailer is approached to buy goods by anyone other than an authorized Masterfit sales representative, we request that they obtain as much contact information as possible and contact Masterfit immediately.

"Fortunately, our insurance should cover most of the loss but when thieves steal, they do so from all of us as it raises insurance premiums for everyone," Cohen adds.
