Park City, UT - The U.S. Olympic Alpine Speed Ski Team spent last week slaying the gates on the 2002 Olympic GS hill at Utah's Park City Mountain Resort for its final training camp on snow before heading to Vancouver on Sunday.

Midway, UT - The five members of the U.S. Olympic Nordic Combined Ski Team were on hand Thursday to help break ground on a new project at Soldier Hollow, site of the 2002 Olympic Winter games. The Soldier Hollow Charter School and Soldier Hollow Legacy Foundation have partnered together to design three new multi-purpose buildings for the Olympic venue in Utah.

Salt Lake City, UT - Parents who fear they have missed the opportunity to turn in their child's 5th Grade Passport or 6th Grade SnowPass application should no longer worry as Ski Utah has extended the original Jan. 31, 2010 deadline to Feb. 15, 2010. Parents can avoid an additional processing fee by submitting their student's application before Feb. 15. With more than two and a half months left of the 2009-10 winter season, there is still plenty of time to take advantage of the program.

Park City, UT - Wasatch Backcountry Rescue (WBR) will hold its Dog School's training day at Utah's The Canyons ski resort on Thursday, when teams will be working on article search techniques, ranging, and cadaver searching. The day will finish with helicopter familiarization and a flight to a search for the dogs.

It's been nearly a week and two avalanche fatalities since the last storm cycle dropped up to seven feet of snow on Utah's Wasatch Mountains, but avalanche experts are warning backcountry skiers and riders that while tempting, those powder-covered slopes remain dangerously unstable.
